It's those Mediterranean breeds with the white earlobes! (Andalusian, Ancona, Minorca, Leghorn, Sicilian Buttercup...) They are lighter bodied and flighty compared to the European and American dual purpose birds. My dingbat Leghorn is the smallest and lightest, and she is food crazed. Constantly running back and forth to see what the others are eating and then pushes them aside to hog it all herself. But she's the boss! These types all lay white eggs as far as I know, so maybe Mary really is laying and Tommy Sophia is getting the credit!Mary is supposed to be an Ancona, I don't know what the deal is with her not laying. She is 28 weeks. The avatar is a splash Andalusian, and my son calls her Sophia and my brother in law calls her tommy. Now we call her tommy Sophia lol. She's a piece of work ...she is the smallest girl yet has big attitude. The only one I've chased through the snow and she hides her eggs I'm pretty sure. She won't lay if I am watching she comes out of the box and clucks her little head off. She doesn't even sound like the other girls....it's like constant chatter . She paces and is super hyper. More flighty and high strung in general. I took that picture the only time I've ver been able to calmly catch her and hold her. She's quick.
healthcare. In the next three months I will save so much. MORE chickens!!! Lol
