, plus they amuse my husband. We have Princess Tiana, Ruthie, J. Lo, and Gallina (spanish for chicken). So this morning Hubby and I put our son on the bus and plugged in the monitor so we could escape to the backyard. We put together a townhouse which is going to be their temporary home until we move the big coop. Anyways I figure I have to keep them in a different area for a few weeks. So I put the townhome into my raised bed vegetable garden which is fully fenced in inside our backyard (also fenced). Next week I am going to paint it when it is empty, I didn't want to paint it this afternoon when the girls would have to be in it by bedtime. I worry about the fumes...anyone ever paint something for the chickens? I would assume it needs plenty of time to air out before it would be safe for chickens to enter. I am only painting the outside....but still. I picked out a green color from home depot. So tomorrow I am going to make some strawberry jam, cut the grass, and help move chickens. My girls are so curious over the new girls. My entire family is excited (I kept the kids away today though...just to be less stressful). The welsummer has a cross beak, and I am worried but looking forward to learning the care of a chicken so special. Today I watched her eat and she ate tons of scratch. The townhouse has three levels so I put her scratch on one level with just her so I could watch to see if she had difficulty. The Easter Egger is so different from my EE, I really am in love with how different they all look. Caught one horse race today, and I am sure we will be watching the derby tomorrow. What is everyone else up to for the weekend?
So I am back on egg watch !
