YaY I am getting a chance to actually sit on my desktop and chat. I have been running around all day and posting from the yard or phone etc. So this weekend we have so much chicken business, but I don't want to miss the big events yall have. So like I posted earlier we adopted four new hens. 1 Easter Egger, 1 Welsummer, 1 Delaware, 1 White Rock. They have names already and I don't think I can change them :), plus they amuse my husband. We have Princess Tiana, Ruthie, J. Lo, and Gallina (spanish for chicken). So this morning Hubby and I put our son on the bus and plugged in the monitor so we could escape to the backyard. We put together a townhouse which is going to be their temporary home until we move the big coop. Anyways I figure I have to keep them in a different area for a few weeks. So I put the townhome into my raised bed vegetable garden which is fully fenced in inside our backyard (also fenced). Next week I am going to paint it when it is empty, I didn't want to paint it this afternoon when the girls would have to be in it by bedtime. I worry about the fumes...anyone ever paint something for the chickens? I would assume it needs plenty of time to air out before it would be safe for chickens to enter. I am only painting the outside....but still. I picked out a green color from home depot. So tomorrow I am going to make some strawberry jam, cut the grass, and help move chickens. My girls are so curious over the new girls. My entire family is excited (I kept the kids away today though...just to be less stressful). The welsummer has a cross beak, and I am worried but looking forward to learning the care of a chicken so special. Today I watched her eat and she ate tons of scratch. The townhouse has three levels so I put her scratch on one level with just her so I could watch to see if she had difficulty. The Easter Egger is so different from my EE, I really am in love with how different they all look. Caught one horse race today, and I am sure we will be watching the derby tomorrow. What is everyone else up to for the weekend?

Oh, and the adoptive mom tells me that the one girl , Ruthie has kind of quit laying, she doesn't know why or if she is just done....we shall see. Either way she is a sweetheart and she adds color to my backyard :) So I am back on egg watch !

Cheeka, those baskets could be framed artwork.

Best of thoughts to everyone...can we get some pictures of some of the new layers? The new babies?

P.S. Maggie is back downstairs ....second night

It is day seventeen, and I really wanted to see movement. I just candled an egg, and was able to see movement! !!
OK, I don't know if you are calmer having hens do it (even if one is Roger ) but I can't believe this is coming to an end! I really hope I remember to put batteries in the camera!
More BCM eggs will be coming soon. This is a test hatch. The new eggs are supposed to be proper color. I was going to sell anything that hatches, but there will be OE in there.
Hey, anyone have an idea why the EE aren't laying? I believe I had ten eggs from two of them last month.
No, they aren't machines. But that is rediculous.

Wow!!! Beautiful eggs and and hatching and chicks and new chickens and townhomes!!! Sounds like a big week and weekend for everyone. We have boy events all weekend, but I will check in for news on the hatch. So curious to see if Roger will rise to the occasion. Pleeeease take pictures!

WOW....talk about a nightmare. You ever have those crazy dreams where its so silly when you wake up you wonder how your mind could put something that crazy together? I'm sitting in the courtroom and Roger is standing on a table with her two chicks and sitting next to her is her attorney. Roger is demanding "child support" and the judge just informed me to sell my truck in order to buy her "scratch". She is living in the house and with the chicks I have a bed in the coop. I am wondering what else they will take from me. I am ordered to report back in one month. (For the record I have never been in court for child support or a divorce.)
