Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Hi guys! Not replying to 165 posts, WOW!
OK congrats on the babies, that's an amazing hatch! W4W are you hatching too? Cheeka, Lindz and everyone that's suffered losses, I am so sorry, been there

MC I was egg buried earlier in the summer, so we did freeze in ice cube trays. Works great! I have missed so much, Its just crazy busy anymore..
On the dog problem, husky have a very strong prey drive. I wish you best of luck. Hopefully if you get one, it will have a tag!
Make them pay, losing money is an excellent teacher for irresponsible pet owners. That's my biggest pet peeve. They just kill, do not even eat the bird..
My most painful loss was my brown Chinese gosling, Ivy. she had a sweet soul and I still miss her... I have yet to get that fox, it still shows up on occasion.
I do still free range, just not as long or as often. If I can't be right there, it won't happen.
I have to find a lower watt fence charger. Probably TSC. The one I have is too strong and would kill a chicken! My dad caught it when I was running the wire for it, UGH!
Nothing was said on the paperwork. Only thing it showed on the package was a chicken with a line thru it, gees! It will work great for cows, goats n pigs tho.
We are going through a spell of very few eggs too. Including my coturnix quail, I have over 200 birds. I get 3-4 eggs a day, mostly my guineas and my BR Mabel.
I am done hatching for the year except for 2 breeds I want to add, both are slow to mature. Coronation Sussex and true ameraucana.
Will probably still hatch quail too, I just love the lil bitty birds! Very social, just climb all over your hands, The eggs are sooo good, and little kids love them!
Very easy to keep and care for. Hope everyone is well.

Good to hear from you jchny! No, decided not to hatch just yet. We are still working on the bantam coop. Also, the Serama cockerel, who doesn't seem to ever dust bathe, is having problems with mites. I've managed to keep it at a low level, but they are still there. I need the new pullets to go into their own coop so I can use the plastic bottomed cage (I can clean with bleach) for the older pair and completely eradicate the mites. Getting itchy just thinking about those little bloodsuckers.

So sad remembering how much you loved that little gosling. I bet she would have been a good pet. For some reason when the natural predators get an animal, it's sad and frustrating, but I don't feel as angry as when it's someone's bored dog out for a thrill kill. Guess like the true criminals, I have more respect for a true predator.

I'm in the same boat with you guys getting only a few eggs. Only got 3 today. Haven't had a Leghorn egg in 2 days. Eerie. Maybe she's molting.

How much can a chickens crop hold before it will bust. I think somebody is real close. Looks like she swallowed a softball. Walking funny too. Pathetic.......little glutton. So uncalled for. That can't be good.
