Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I have a new layer today, too! One of the BCM chicks laid. Not very dark, but her mother and aunt aren't very dark layers. I was hopeful. Anyway, it is dark enough to tell it is a Marans egg. 2 others to go!
All 4 of my Leghorns laid today too! Ten eggs for the day!

Congrats MC! that is so cool... these Maran eggs aren't as dark either, but I've been told they will darken a little bit as the girls matrue
 
I've got 11 eggs under my broody. Two weeks sitting tomorrow. I have been a good girl, and haven't messed with them. Tonight I candled too. I couldn't resist. All I saw was air sacks. They are blue eggs and maran eggs. Broody hasn't kicked any of them out. Think they are all good?

The broody is a expert at hatching. Let her do her job. If the eggs you gave her were fertile you will get good results. Don't bother her and don't try to help. She will do fine. If there are bad eggs she will determine that and reject them.
 
she won't likely reject any duds til closer to day 19... and even may still sit on them past day 21. don't assume they won't hatch... remember my Silkie, she hatched on day 25.
 
Hi All, I just wanted to stop in and say hello. It has been too busy around here for me to find time to jump on. You are all in my thoughts though.
Best wishes for a Happy Halloween and a nice fall. I have so much reading to catch up on and a lot of things coming up around the holidays so I won't be expecting to see you all but I will be lurking if I can.

8 Eggs today. did virtually nothing all day but rest. have had a migraine for 2 days, finally feeling better - late last night I was ready to drill a hole in my skull.

it's nice and quiet, dogs are out for hopefully the last sniff of the night... I'm looking to be sleeping by 9. I've got a fairly easy day tomorrow, few errands after work, should be home by mid afternoon to play play play with the Clucks, I feel guilty for kind of ignoring them today. knowing I had zero energy, I overfed them on purpose...
