Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

So I'm normally the one who wants the weather man to get it wrong and get a ton of snow. Well today I got my wish. Instead of the "less than 1 inch" we got 9.5 inches in 2 hrs. The same 2 hrs I was driving to my sisters. Took me that long to go the last 5 miles! Yuck! Thankfully I'm home safe and sound and the husband took good care of the chickies!

I would rather have the snow than the ice that we are having. Going to be interesting in the morning. .... I got 5 eggs today, all from the comets. I threw out extra scratch this evening so they should stay pretty warm even though it is freezing rain and COLD! Everyone stay safe in all this winter weather.

DANG CLindz! that is a blizzard! very glad you are safe and sound!
the storm is starting late here - after midnight... but we are supposed to get about 3 inches of ice and snow... tomorrow will not be fun, I have to work a double. Lindz, I hope it's not going to stay that cold to maintain all that ice!

Let it Melt!

today was fantabulous! my family came, and I mean the whole family, which was a big surprise! the only one missing was my younger brother who is out in Colorado. I knew my folks had added the grandkids for the days plan, but found out yesterday that my older brother and his wife wanted to come too if I had room in the car. I did. I threw the 3rd row seats in the Tahoe that I normally store in the garage so I have room for feed bags and bales of straw...

I slow cooked the chickens starting last night. it was phenomenal. I made an awesome wild rice blend with peas, and chocolate cookies at 6 am, got the dogs upstairs and covered the furniture for my nephews allergies... he was here about 3 minutes before he came up, hugged me and said "I love it here". it was his first visit, I was thrilled...! he did some sledding on the neighbors mildly sloped lawn, but had a total blast, and built a "snow face" because the snow was too powdery to pack into a man. he had zero allergy symptoms while inside too, which was an immense relief. he's so allergic to dogs, he's been in respiratory failure many times...

I got great pics and of all the nights for my card reader to act up! I cannot download any. so frustrating! but my dad took a bunch of pics and sent them to me on FB. hopefully tomorrow it will clear up and start working again. even a reboot didn't work... but this has happened a few times in the past year, I'm hopeful it will start working again.

3 Eggs today, 2 from the Dome, and 1 from the Fosters.

have really missed our thread. My 3 calves had scours, this is bad stuff like parvo in dogs almost!.
Horribly fast bacterial infection. After almost a week fighting it day and night, I was only able to save little Ribeye

I had my cow first aid kit set up already or I would have lost all 3.
In the process, not sleeping, or taking care of myself while this was going on, I got E Coli myself.
I have been horribly sick for almost 2 weeks. Nonstop vomiting, etc it was just awful!
Had to see the Dr to get over it. Lost 11 pounds in the process so I weigh a whopping 102 now

Going to try to at least read what I missed! Glad to be back

Oh man. Scours is bad. Especially in bottle bodies. Seems dairy type calves get it worse than beef ones

Oh Janet! scary times! so sorry for your losses despite incredible efforts, but heartened to hear that one made it and that you are on the mend!

thanks MC... I'm overly critical of myself in photos, mainly bc there are so few... I'm usually on the other side of the camera. I like the pic too

I took the day off work so I'm enjoying some snuggle time w the cat who feels neglected no matter how long you spend cuddling him! The poor dh went to work at 6:30 for an inspection and has already come home to change once from the nasty cold weather. And he's off again!

I seem to have dodged the storm bullet - we have no additional accumulation - just a dusting, but it's sprinkling snow now... the waterers were all frozen, but honestly, it's not that bad outside. just swept off the car, all powder... no ice, just hoping the roads won't be icy... heading out in 20 minutes. really really don't want to go... certainly don't want to work a double... I'll suck it up and smile... Chester went back to bed, Lucky Dog.
