Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Ahh, Roger's moment in the sun. No one would believe it happened without this photo.

So......   is your dad still alive?  :D    You did say you didn't get the kids toys this year, so this will be a good distraction.

As for names, I'd call him Trouble, because anything that cute is bound to be a boat load of trouble.  Teach him to round up the chickens; we had a dog that would herd them back to the coop.

He is still alive for now..... but considering it is 1:30 in the morning and I have a puppy yelping and howling in my bathtub he may not make it til Christmas!
I am not really upset that he bought them a dog but more that he didn't ask us before.... I mean I have nothing for a puppy. No food, no toys nothing...... so I have to get up early on Christmas eve and go to the store to get puppy food before we can go to the grandparents for Christmas..... and I have to drag a puppy around with us. Hubby has to work tomorrow so it will be me.... by myself. ....with 4 kids and a new puppy....... I am so NOT thrilled.

Toys are easy. You know the stray socks that never go away? knot them up or stuff one full of more stray socks!
then knot the end. I use an old wind up clock wrapped in a towel for momma's heartbeat.
Thats really helpful the first few days, they are so scared.
Hard boiled or scrambled egg is a really good puppy food til you get to the store.

The lil pup will get a lot of love tomorrow with 4 kids! I am still envious too, i love snuggling a puppy

That adorable bundle of fur will make an awesome guardian for your chickens someday soon.
Be sure to introduce birds early and often.

Jchny we're getting a great pyr to live with the goats. I've always wanted one ever since I watched an old French cartoon when I was a kid. We also like the breed because they can live in the barn w the animals. Which is the whole point of a guard dog right??? We didn't want to get a dog and have it be sad if it was left outside. So hopefully in the spring we'll have a puppy!!!

W4W good name! Tho I do like Tyson!

Whoops- sorry for your loss! That sucks!!!

I finally gave up at 5am after just hours of dozing. Hasn't made a peep since. Was up at 3 cleaning up poop and taking him out again..... it's funny how they buy them for the kids but then it is always momma doing the work.... oh well. ... time to getup and get motivated. 2 grandmas to go see for the day.

Have a very Merry Christmas everyone! I will keep you updated!

awwww, he's very cute and looks like he's suckering you in :) I always go goo goo eyes at the cattlemonster rescue dogs and puppies. Very cool dogs, and usually quite healthy and long-lived. Can be little turds, of course. But usually so sweet to their owners and family.
Your father was a bit of a stinker to drop the little darling off with no food, crate, or toys right before the frantickest shopping day of the year

If you can brave wallyworld (also known as the Evil Empire) on a Christmas eve, they usually have cheap crates and bowls.

Whoops, I am sorry to read of your loss. just hate that.

lindz... I like the name Cooper, but they are all good names, including Trouble... lol sorry that you are overwhelmed by all this puppines, but I think he'll settle in nicely and be a great flock guardian.

Today was a true Postal Miracle! the mail was only an hour late and I didn't have to give any assistance anywhere! I only had to do my own route! first time in over a month anyway, if not 2... and the first time I was home at 2 pm since Mylee was here! I'm so happy to be home in daylight... I made the garlands for the flock last night, but I won't hang them til tomorrow. I ended up using only cheerios because the dogs and the cat were making it impossible to string anything else. the dogs were trying to get in the bag that I was dropping the length into, Ruby sat on it a couple of times, broke lots of popcorn.... and Hershey the Cat was grabbing at the string...

the gang will love it and they can have popcorn and raisins scattered around the runs. it's going to be 8 degrees overnight, they'll need to have the activity in the morning to warm up!

Merry Christmas Eve to all! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!
