lindz! that is a precious picture! it's 20 below this morning, and all is well - I hope your gang is too. they should be... yes, it's cold, check for signs of frostbite, but all in all, they snug up to one another and keep each other warmer...

That picture is sooooo adorable!!!!!

Moment of panic this morning because the locks were frozen but I was able to finally muscle them open. Phewww... it was getting cold out there. We aren't that cold (I think we went down to 3) but the wind is just awful.

My spoiled rotten ones had the heat lamp last night. I had just started to wean them off when this bitter cold weather came. And I'll start again as we're suppose to warm back up. I'm totally of the lines that we baby our animals too much and they can take much more than we think...but they're our babies... so we'll worry and make sure they have extra treats and straw.... Heck after my meetings this morning (yay I got to work from home cause it's cold.... sorry cheeka...) I'm going to scramble up some more eggs for the crew.

lucky you CLindz! at least I don't have a walking route... I spend the majority of my work day in my car. even with the heat blasting, the window is wide open, so... they kind of cancel each other out and it's cold. I will wait til I get home to give them something warm to eat. it's supposed to warm up a bit - get a degree or 2 above 0... I have kitten food, and hamburger grease - to turn into a warm mash, and some millet to sprinkle on top. I need to pick up more BOSS, I'm out... and should pick up another bag of millet - I'll use all I have for today's snack... by the end of the week it will be back in the 40's. the only bird with a real problem with frostbite is the Foster white rooster. he's got it pretty bad, but he won't let me slather him, even at night - he will hop off the roost... and wipe wipe wipe it off on the straw. knucklehead.
later all! have a great day and try to stay warm!

My husband is sitting on the other side of the dog..... if you look close you can see the back of his head. Lol
what breed is he? My mastiff thought he was a lapdog.
wrestle a 150 lb Dog??? I'd lose. lol

it's cold here too, but not bad in the pens. no one's water froze, and I added even more straw along the walls of the banty pen - nobody will let me goo up their combs with anything either, so... frostbite is at bay, but they should have let me coat them tonight... I loaded them up with corn at 4 and went back with more at 4:30 when they were starting to settle on the roosts, so they will have some first thing in the morning. guaranteed the water will be frozen solid but I'll get out early to get them some fresh.

I only got 2 Eggs today. kinda bummed. but there was activity in the Foster pen nest box, no egg... but I can see the straw is bunched up in spots, so someone was in there... probably a rooster.

I've got the work doldrums. I should take some vacation time. wish I could go somewhere, but I have too many critters that need looking after. even still, it would be nice to just sleep in and chill out here for a week.
