Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I just went to check for eggs, and guess who's sitting??????????????????? Mama Peach hasn't laid an egg since 10/15/13! I"m thinking it's almost time to clean the snow out of the broody pen!

Well... either I went back out too soon... or she's in the beginning of broodiness. she was still there, and hopped up when I took the 2 eggs she was sitting on. if she's broody, she'll growl at me within a couple of days. she should still lay an egg... I'm going back out again in 10 minutes...

I got another cream colored egg today, and a really pretty green one! (I hate when the camera washes out the colors!) The green one is fatter and more egg-shaped than my normal EE eggs, so it may be from one of the new girls too! I hadn't gotten eggs from them, so maybe

they didn't get too stressed with the move and are going to go ahead and start laying! 9 so far today!

Huzzah! she did it! Peach's egg is on the left, Esther's egg is on the right, and the middle is a large EE egg for comparison, but it wouldn't stand up well. it's really an escargot dish... but it works well for smallish eggs. Peach lays a decent size for a bantam.

She would have to lay the requisite dozen or so eggs to get her hormones flowing for sitting. I'm betting you can count on her being broody next month.

At the watering hole! LOL..... Hubby forgot to water them last night before he put them up... I don't feed or water in the coop, so they were ready for some this morning! Poor girls!
