Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

And now for my 2 cents.
Yes, sometimes a chicken will lay 2 eggs in a day.
Why are your cats on the counter? I have had quite a few cats, and have never had one get onto the counter. Yes, I know they can. I would just have to kill any cat that got onto a table or counter.
Cheeka, I had a dog that loved my dirty underwear.

I also had one that liked my one sister's dirty ... well, tampons. Every time she visited during that time, the dog would take them out of the trash.
And how the heck did you get temps in the 40's the other day?! No fair!

I went out to the coop at 8:30, and there were 4 eggs waiting for me already!! Two were frozen, so I waited for the egg that a RIR was laying. The queens got celery, potato skins, and bread so far today. I will probably make them oatmeal later on. I am out of raisins. I hope they don't get mad!

I know it is cold out, but how long does it normally take for an egg to freeze? I was not expecting frozen eggs so early.

lol - this cat opens doors to rooms, pushes out window screens, and gets up on top of the upper cabinets, just under the ceiling. One time, I was driving with her in zipped up in a carrier and she unzipped it, climbed up and stuck to my face while I was driving. I couldn't pull over for awhile. She will not be contained.

MC, I know... I'm forever throwing them back to the floor... they must spend time up there while I'm working. sometimes, when I walk in, Hershey will jump down. of my 3 cats, only 1 (Ollie) never gets up on anything, the other 2... Min Min is nearing 18, and is kind of pitiful, so I leave her alone. Hershey is just naughty. Our first family Pug, when I was a kid... used to eat tampons from the neighbors trash. I wrapped mine up good so he didn't ever find them. but one day... he was looking bad, glassy eyes and really sluggish... so I took him to the vet right away. about 15 minutes after we got there, he started to vomit, but was choking on ??? then we saw white, and were like ??? then we saw the string.

he ate 3. glad I was home from school early, he would have died.

so... it was 2 weather systems that collided which is why we had temps in the 40's for about 2 hours. it was so odd, but really delightful considering how stinkin' cold it's been. too bad it couldn't last... thursday through saturday are supposed to be in the 30's, but with snow.

I got home at 1 today! haven't been home this early since last summer! when I checked for eggs, Rose (RIR) was sitting, I dug 4 eggs out from underneath her, and then she stood up and laid her perfect egg right in my hand! I think that makes #6 that I've caught - love it, kind of sticky, but really warm... good thing she was finished as Wilma and Peach were trying to squeeze in with her... so I should have at the very least 7 for the day...

I COULD NOT BE SORRIER FOR OFFENDING YOU GUYS! I IN NO WAY MEANT TO THREATEN ANYONE WITH THE CARTOON I SHARED OR WITH WHAT I SAID ABOUT CATS ON THE COUNTER!! THE CARTOON WAS NOT MADE/WRITTEN BY ME. I SIMPLY THOUGHT IT WAS HUMOROUS. I KNOW NOW IT WAS OFFENSIVE. I AM SO SO SORRY!
I HOPE YOU CAN FORGIVE ME!

MC I didn't see a cartoon!!! And I didn't take any offense. I even admit that having cats on the counter/table is gross if I think about it. So I don't think about it and make sure I wipe them down before guests come over. And then I act shocked if they do it front of company... "Oh my.... he never does that normally..." LOL

I had one cat that use to sleep on the stove. Until one side of her whiskers got broken off.

My new cat Melvin never use to get up on the counter... Until I started growing fodder. However, he has decided that the dining room table is his new favorite spot. He's such a weird cat. He likes to sleep on cold, hard surfaces. And our dining room table is up against a drafty window. He's so weird. It's not like we even keep the house warm. Our other cat has taken to sleeping in front of the fire for warmth.

Melvin is also the only one who gets into trash. But he only likes q-tips. So while not as gross it's still pretty bad :)

I gave the chickies some fodder. Can't wait to see what's left in an hour. They were picking at it when I left. Forgot to bring the camera.

I did not see the cartoon, but then I do not have any cats and don't like seeing them on top of where I would eat or cook, my children have them one even feeds one on the counter. I try to till him that is not good for their health but he just looks at me and says mom you get sick more then me. so true, to each his own.

I saw it. Was busy working and didn't reply. Probably best I left it alone or we would both been in trouble. You can't offend me. Instead I worry that I will offend somebody (or Roger will). No complaint from me. My suggestion is tie longer strings on them before throwing them away just in case. Thats no more gross than the light brown stinky chicken poop we talk about that Roger likes to walk in. Does anybody feed their chickens maggots? lol...

Some chicken pics!!!!

You'll see my suspected rooster in the second pic. I have two black copper marans and the difference in combs/wattles is now very noticeable. Tho I suspected almost from day one because he was always twice the size of the other.

Feel free to point out any others you think are males. With my luck they all are.
