Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

The weather here is good for now. It is Sunny and about 34 degrees. I cooked scrambled eggs, sweet potato and alfalfa sprouts for the girls. I went into the run with the treats and they hauled butt past me to the toy hauler.

The girls were happy to have some sunshine. If you stand in it .... it is actually warm.

sorry.... I couldn't resist.......

Janet, So sorry for all the health issues your family is dealing with. As others said, take care of your self too!! Spring is right around the corner, just not close enough! Keep up the good spirits!

Cheeka-OMG the snow! That is why I moved to Florida! I could't take it anymore! Sorry to say it is sunny and high 60's today. I am up to 17 eggs almost daily, my "forgotten ones" (Marans) have started laying. Not sure where they are laying them, but I did find one little one two days ago.

I am off to pick up some more chicks to replace the ones that died, and I am going to pick up 6 more pullets tomorrow (almost POL, some BR's and BCM's) I am hoping none are related to Roger!

Lindz-I keep my feed in the Galvanized metal trash bins. Rodents can't bite through and the lid is pretty hard to get off, even for me!

Stay warm everyone! Sending warm spring winds (and some rain for W4W) from sunny Florida!

thank goodness for the John Deere! love that machine, it's a 1989, lawn/garden tractor, so it's small for a "tractor" but it's big for a lawn mower... and it moves snow like crazy! even the heavy dense stuff is like soft butter for the JD... I even got to the front yard where Chester was neck deep in the snow... Ruby is more pleased about that, she doesn't like snow, rain, or mud. she's "dainty"

I had kind of a long day. one of my customers passed away today, apparently of a heart attack, scariest part is he was alone and outside! it's assumed he went out to brush snow off his satellite dish... he was 88. when I got there to deliver the mail, the police were there, thank God he was found quickly! I don't know if his son might have suspected something was wrong, like he didn't answer the phone... then I got an earful of not really gossip, but unpleasant information about another family on my route... I've already surmised that they are greedy, and get involved with elderly folks, then basically steal everything they have... I've already warned my elderly friend about them... anyway, a local councilwoman has gotten their number finally! and the law is coming down, but that whole story took another hour out of my day, and was just more depressing stuff... so I stopped to see my elderly friend for a boost. she's good, well stocked, so we didn't have to go anywhere, and enjoyed a nice visit - somehow early childhood memories came up in the chat and that opened a floodgate of really charming stories about her early life. she was a bit of a rebel tom boy under the watchful eye of strict, modest, hard working parents. I have to giggle to think of her sneaking off to go to a dance in her teens... what her Dad would have thought of her "short" dress that dared to show her knees if she twirled just right! she was reminiscing about her very early days, and trips to her grandparents.. took the edge right off my mood!
didn't make it home early enough to permit some free range, but I provided snacks, no one's water was frozen even tho' it never got above 26* all day. and we got about 3 more inches so far, it's still snowing
