I'm away on a business trip overnight. Hubby is home chicken sitting. He already called to tell me he's going to kill 'em. Every time he goes outside to lock them up they come outta the coop to say hi! I told him to wait until they fall asleep after dark. Lol!!!

So... Gossamer is top heavy, and clearly Sillie Soo is um, gifted in the bottom, still... I see a remarkable resemblance...


Bakery is annoyed that they won't budge over and make room for her girth. the girls protest that it's not a matter of "budging over" ~ to make room for that fat hen, 2 of them have to leave the circle.


this tiny cabin is about 1.5 miles down the road from my place, the red building is a 4-seater outhouse. it's for sale. I'd love to haul the cabin up to my backyard...

I gave George and Astrid a little left over tomato. Last I saw, they were still stalking around, staring at it suspiciously. The big girls are consistently laying pretty much every day. I have given eggs to friends and coworkers, neighbors, the cat and the dogs, and they still keep coming. I have made quiches and frittatas, and still they keep coming. I love it!

I think I will try hardboiling some for breakfast eggs.

I've been reading this thread for days and I am still not caught up, but I just had to ask you all something...

I’ve been waiting for an egg for oh so long
I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.
I’ve been reading this thread to learn what to do
I’ve gotten some great tips from all of you!
You guys are smart. You guys know best!
So I checked food, water, and bedding for the nest.
Everything seemed right so I wondered some more
Where are the eggs? Perhaps the coop floor?
Waiting on eggs is a tough way to live
I picked all of your brains, what else could I give?
Then it hit me like a bolt from the sky
The piece that is missing! What they needed was pie!
Pie for one, pie for all! They don’t even need a fork!
This must be the key. This surely will work!
But alas, although my pie was the best
It ended with me cleaning up a huge mess.
So now at a loss, here’s a picture of my chooks
Maybe you can diagnose them, please take a look.
Here they are, if you can I beg of you please
Tell me why I get no eggs yet from these?
