Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

MC - thanks for the pics!

Vintage - I wouldn't mind having a rooster...but they're not allowed here so I'll be sticking with hens.

I'm hoping that since most of my chicks are ameraucanas (they are the real deal, from a fancy breeder and all) I might actually be able to find homes for them. If not, it's freezer camp. But that is going to hurt my heart a little.
It does hurt a lot.. I always cry. If it wasn't for knowing it is so much healthier for my family, I would not process any of the birds.
For us, that's why they are here. I want to know what my family is eating is healthy and safe.
From the eggs, to meat on our table I know my birds were loved, healthy and fed well.

Really a bath mom? I worked really hard to get smelly!!!!

Gotta dry so I can get all fluffy again!

MC- who are the cute kids? And is that's sturgis as a puppy?

your puppy is just precious!

Just got home from work. 11 hatched. 4 pipped/zipped started. 1 possible dud.
So sorry about the dud. So exciting on the babies!

I need to take pics of my weird eggs, although I put some in the cartons I sold today... I still have Blu's egg... and while they aren't "puppies"... Chester killed Ruby's Lamby and her hedgehog. when he does stuff like this, I call him Cheddar Cheese. makes him smile.

he says he's very sorry

he's forgiven!
They are just adorable! Lots of puppy kisses going on there

Recently got annexed and I got scared by it, gave up my Alpacas. Since learned I didn't have to, but you do what you need to.
I was terrified that we would lose our property, ugh.. Went to a lot of town meetings and finally got answers.

Here are my distractions

And one from work today
Are they all given up, or yours? All are just adorable. Especially the first pic!

Good morning! School wad on a 2hr delay for freezing rain. The dogs started barking and growling at about 7 and I got up to let them out. The huskies were down at the coop and my two chased them off. Ratchet was raising all kinds of racket. I hope he gets a little territorial and keeps the strays ran off.
The chicks are still good this morning!

Lindz didn't you say you had talked to the owners? I am sorry they are still coming around. I think the time for politeness is just about over. That is really irritating :(

I have talked top the owners and Animal Control multiple times. I'm really ready to just get rid of the dogs. If I can ever get the gun out before they realize I am out there it will be over.

The paint was a rescue. As well as the BO rooster lol. My son is almost 2, and some times I would like to give him up lol

nice setup Scrambles! bigger is always better! I've just found sometimes bigger means colder in the Winter, harder to keep warm, but straw bales solved that...

lindz, freezing rain stinks! they said on the news that y'all were getting snow... which is not as dangerous really as freezing rain... good news that Ratchet was making a stink about the huskies! I think he'll be very good at protecting his territory which will fuel Zauk into action - between the 2, the huskies stand little chance as long as they are spotted... I'd forgotten that I had a loose dog here a few years ago, here so often that I finally put him in my back garage, with food, water and a pillow... I'm not a meanie... but I wanted the owner to have to come to me. which he did. and that was the last time his dog got loose. those neighbors of yours are real knuckleheads. glad the flock is safe!

the Fosters previous owner is back in town, she stopped up today to get some eggs and see the fatties. I charged her for the eggs... I almost gave them to her, but decided that I did her the favor... and while she did bring me the feed that was at her house before closing up for the season... I did give her eggs over the month of December... I don't know... it was only 4 bucks... should I have charged her? eh... next time maybe I won't...

corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots are simmering away, smells so good! the sun is shining, but it's mighty cold out! (15°) I had the flock out for a bit, the boys didn't want to go back in, but everyone else did...

16 Eggs today
