Try using a Nite Guard Predator Protector. I have one above my coop/pen.I'm sure raccoons can get over the fence, and we do have them around here. The chicken wire is burried at least a foot out from the bottom of the run and the top is covered too. I am planning to keep the coop closed at night, I really don't think I'll try to increase the ventilation by leaving it open. The coop is tight. Nothing is getting in. If something tries to get into the run we'll probably see some evidence of damage then I can tell hubby "i told you so" and we'll probably change it out.
