Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Not a lot of places to hide....I looked under the deck and in the bushes. If she is outside my yard I don't see how she could come back. She would lose her way quickly among the houses....plus as soon as she realized she was alone she would have started to fuss....I checked the perimeter and drove around the block peering into yards...no sign of her. I live in the city, the chances of her coming back if she's alive are pretty slim.

I am beside myself. I wish I hadn't let them out.

She may just be hiding somewhere! Hopefully she comes back and is none the worse for wear, with grand tales of adventures for the others!
When Scooter chased my EE pullet, she ran and hid in some grass up against the fence. Even in an enclosed yard it took me a long time to find her. She had stuffed herself into an incredibly small spot and was completely silent. Not a peep out of her until I found her 30 mins later.

I'll get a flashlight and look again but I am not hopeful. The grass hasn't really started to grow here yet. When I went out the rest of the chicks were laying around near the door to the run. It was open but they hadn't gone in. I herded them in and did a head count and that's when I realized someone was missing.

Oh no... keep us updated.

I let the girls out this morning because I thought my husband would be home because of the weather but he ended up going into work. So now I'm going to drive home early because I don't like that they are out without me at least in the area.

This is the one that is gone. Iwent out and checked under the deck again and in all the bushes. I don't think she's coming back. She's been missing at least an hour and a half.

Can you put the others back so she can hear them in the yard? That way if she's somewhere where she can get back on her own she'd be able to hear/see her family??

Well, rats.

We have a lady around here who "finds" cats and never tries to find the owners. Also, there are people out there who couldn't tell a chicken from a pigeon, so they wouldn't even know it if they saw her. Maybe pass out some flyers in the neighborhood so helpful folks can help.

Put them back out in the yard? I had not thought of that. Maybe I will get out the boys and see what happens. I am not even sure I have 3 amerqcauna pullets left which is what I wanted ti keep out of my hatch :(. I have 2 probably pullets and one maybe...the missing one was for sure.

Well I decided I was being a baby and let them back out.  Now my favorite one is missing.  Couldn't be one of the stupid roos that I have to get rid of anyway.  No.  Had to be my favorite and one of only a couple hens I got out of my ameracauna hatch.  Best looking one.

I am so angry right now.  If I had just not decided to let them back out I would still have her.  I looked all over my yard and peered into my neighbors...but if she was nearby I would hear her kicking up a major fuss being alone.  She is gone gone gone.  Free range for an hour, gone forever.

Aw heck Mortie... Maybe she will come back tonight. Can you shake some treats? Mine come running for treats.
