and I have a single chick inside in a homemade brooder. found it in the middle of their igloo, curled up, freshly hatched, still damp with a peck mark on its head, quite chilled. peeping mournfully. it's dry now, warmer, peeping its head off, but still pretty curled up... I hope they take it back. if it makes it, that is...

this is about a half hour after I found it. now, it's still curled up, but lifting its head, eyes open, very wiggly if still a bit uncoordinated. if it makes it to morning, I will take another pic.

Drama with my marriage had me upset tonight. Then a bad storm rolled in. Sturgis is afraid of storms. Jazlyn isn't... Usually.
I'm sitting on the kitchen floor holding Sturgis and feeding Jazlyn snacks to keep her sleepy/sick/teething self happy until bed. The storm got loud enough to scare her too. She came to me, and touched Sturgis. He snapped at her, she screamed bloody murder. He got more scared, and wanted more comfort. I did admonish him, but he didn't try to bite, so I respected his telling her to back off. They're both quiet, then a big long boom and roll. She touched him, he snapped at her... It was sooo fun! Not!
She's asleep for now (I gave her pain drops, hopefully it will be enough to make her sleep tonight!) and the storm is over. Hope everyone has a good night!

MC that stinks! and the storm surely isn't helping the situation. hope the rest of your night is quiet. mine won't be. peep keeps calling for me every oh... 10 minutes max. it's a Silkie mix - 5 toes. nice chipmunk pattern. if it makes it is should be quite cute. it's still unable to get its feet underneath itself, but its trying!

I know what happened. that chick did die early this afternoon. I went to check on them and make sure the few eggs I left with Louise were okay. there, by itself, was an egg with a hole the size of a quarter pecked in the side. premie-chick curled inside, peeping loudly. it's in my bra. I'm so sad for it. I don't know if it can survive... but Esther now has all of the rest of the eggs
