oh wow. Glad you didn't lose anyone. I blame the cheap quality chicken wire we get these days. They don't make it like they used to.

We saved and reused the old wire when we rebuilt the existing coop here. Had to get some new wire to make it work. Difference in quality is night and day.

Instead of chicken wire, buy stucco wire.

We looked at stucco wire. Would definitely use it if we had another big coop to build.

So sorry about your girls, Debby. I hope they show up. My Millie went missing one evening and came home the next afternoon. Hope the something happens for you. Heartbreaking.

Thanks Lynn, We are still looking and holding out hope....we are getting ready to go out and hit the spots where we couldn't get in the dark....I don't want her to be hurt so bad she's suffering....we left the run open last nite in case she tried to get back, but no luck this morning....well off to hunt for a fox den & hopefully find a hen!

Jaz and I went outside with the dog. The neighbor's flock was out (stupid. It's too overcast! Plus, no way to get inside or water) but she never wants to see them. She went to my coop to talk to and about the chickens.
The chickens have stopped running from her. Today they just asked what we had for them.
The sky looks like it's going to open anytime now. I'm glad we got to spend some time outside.
I closed in five sides of the rabbit hutch frame yesterday. I hope they figure out how to get in, and sleep there. I plan to get them in there today or tomorrow. I'll have a week to watch, and see if they figure it out.

Hi again.... I went out and banded Rump's chicks. Whew... what a fiasco that was.

Trying to catch 5 chicks by myself was hard. I finally got the fishing net out. Rumples flogged my as best she could, Bless her heart.

I took pics, but they suck. I'll try again when DH gets home.
I have a home for a cockerel and I will keep 2 pullets..... IF I have 2 pullets.

#5. I wanted this black chick to be a keeper, but I am pretty sure that it's a cockerel. Has a long tail and is very independent and adventurous.
