After a very long morning, it has been determined that Duckling has been bitten by a vampire bat. It has since been located and sent to a lab for testing. The bat, not the baby.
Okay, I'm kidding. Despite her odd behavior, I am not concerned. Why my mother didn't jump to "ear infection" is beyond me. I had ear infection after ear infection throughout... Oh wait! I still do! I don't always feel them either. I am going with that being the first diagnosis.
Yes, I am still hoping to go away. Not sure how that will work, but I have a sister that will be driving through late New Years eve, If she is lucky, she will get here by nine, and we will get to Ohio a little after midnight on January first. As crappy as that is, there is no alcohol allowed around my family (we all drink, but not around the kids or my mother!
). I will still get to do the gift exchange, and the ducklings should be okay. The big problem is that the first
bird egg (they never specified bird) hatched on 1/1/16 wins a prize. I may have to look for someone to spend the night here!
I said I was hatching an alligator. That is funnier than you think! I happen to have a book about a duck with three eggs. One hatches an alligator. I forgot about the book until last evening. Duckling and I were reading every one of her books. It was great!
I was told more than once that a duck can lay several eggs in a day. That was confusing. It happened though! I have two eggs today. No double yolk (that I know about) one double egg, and today this. Ducks are not like chickens. They miss a day, they really make up for it!
