Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

i have a sun room which we now call the living room, we are always in it one window is higher then the rest as we used the one that was in the old dinning room wall that we opened for door to sun room we put a gas fire place there the kind you just put out the wall no long pipe going up, it works great then we turned the dinning room heat run into sun room so we do have heat in the winter we have 11 windows in here, the dinning room was changed to be part of kitchen then the family room became the dinning room works great for use.

hubbie just went out to take care of chickens found one looks like something got into coop at night, her neck looked like something went around it no hair left on her neck, never saw anything like this before, was wondering if snake would do something like this. we do live in farm country so it could be almost anything, we had a red fox one year but it could not get into coop, we have had all chickens taken or killed one night about 6 years ago,

How strange. Never heard of anything like that either. A rat? We have had some huge molts this year... feathers seem to fall off a bird over night. Hope you find what the problem is.

I think ferrets will do that--They are going after the jugular then eat very little.

that maybe it, hubbie was so upset when he came in, we had a camper as coop and another reg coop it was the camper, we just finished taken birds out and moving them to coop as there are a lot of places things can hind in, since we are not sure how or where it got in we are playing it safe, the coop is just a reg coop made of wood, we have had two campers we made into coops we like that it is warmer in them but if something is hinding in the walls we would never find it.

I am really sorry about the attack!

There is a type of ferret called a fisher that is re establishing territory on the East coast. They are particularly viscous. They can get in through very small openings too. Look for any openings and cover with hardware cloth.

we had fisher's upstate NY. nasty nasty creatures. horrible. hope it's not them as they are hard to trap, are excellent climbers and can be mean as H E double hockey sticks!

now I can't remember if I told y'all already, but I was on the phone with my mom yesterday late morning, and a HUGE hawk flew in and perched on a branch at the fence line. I would have loved to get a picture but not at the cost of Peri... who was out in the yard. I shooed off the hawk and got Peri in the sunroom. the hawk was at least the same size as the dog, might not be able to carry her off but could kill her on strike. that beast could easily fly off with a fully grown large fowl. scary huge. the new setup will absolutely be fully enclosed in hardware cloth and that's that!

Oy! Did you google and try to id it? Maybe it was an eagle! Surprising that the big ones would come into a neighborhood like that. Neighbors near here had a red tail kill a big hen. They chased it off so it never got to eat. They have never given me and trouble, thankfully, but there are smaller ones who come through every so often that seem to be sizing up the big girls. So far they have not gone after them, but they've been pretty small hawks. Sharp-shinned was the last one. Tiny. I do worry about the Seramas, but they love being out so we risk it.
