Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I currently (broody madness hasn’t hit yet!) have 8 Silver Pencil Rocks (rooster, cockerel, 2 hens and 4 pullets) a RSL and a Welsummer. I keep flip flopping about future breeds. I will definitely not have anything but the SPR boys. That way I can keep only SPR eggs for broodies, and let Duckling pick out EE or whatever.

That will cut down one eggs!

My 4 hens started laying after their winter break yesterday. I collected 1 blue egg yesterday and a white and blue egg today

I finally achieved a perfect day! Got 6 eggs from the 6 pullets!

Sooo happy! The 6th pullet has finally started laying.

I knew she was thinking about it... checking out some plaster eggs.

I’m still waiting for more to lay, but I have enough eggs (a dozen in the house) to let the dog have one every few days. It’s also technically still early. The expected start isn’t for another two weeks, and it slowly builds up over March. Last year it was a new layer each Sunday.

I was very impressed with how early these new pullets started. Only had them a week and boom! Eggs!
I was very lucky to get them.
