The Dawn is Breaking
The Night is at End
It's Time to Sing
For Our Very Best Friend!

A Few Perp~Perp~Perps
A Bok, Maybe Two
It's Enough to Rouse
Dear Ole Dad, Our True Blue!

He Rushes to See Us
Such a Smile on His Face
We're Ready and Waiting
Not an Egg Out of Place!

As Dad Counts Up our Eggs
We All Puff Up With Pride
As Dad Counts the Last One
His Eyes Open Wide!

"There's No Telling How...
But This is Just Great"
You Girls are Amazing
I've Just Counted Eight!

Outstanding........

You are by far the best. And if your prediction is true there will be a major celebration. I will reward them by taking all eight of them to Tractor Supply with me. If they don't let us in were going to Wal Mart

Gotta say I am really happy my injured chick is rehabbing nicely. He/she spent most of the whole day with his mom and all the kids and was jumping right in with the rest for a share of bugs. I did have to help him get up the four foot ladder to the broody flat...thought so. He was standing there looking so lost and left behind. Just before dusk I went in to check on them and he was standing there by himself..ut oh..I reached in to get him,but he was toasty warm....then he hopped over to get a snack and went back under mama. Glad I won't have to keep him inside tonight...such a strong little chick.!!! Yippee!

ACW, how's the little peep doing? it's been a quiet day round here... i cut the grass for 3 hours, came in for a drink of water, sat down for a moment, and woke up 4 hours later... i must've needed it...
OK, todays egg count????

my little gang is 16 weeks, 2 days old. I've started to add layer feed and oyster shell to their diet, which they devoured. Only one of my BR's is getting quite red in the face (Betty), and one of my EE's is pinkish (Isis). The RIR's are still pale. The only one who squats for me is Wilma, the other BR who is barely pink in the face... but she's been squatting for me since she was 4 weeks old. She likes me to smooth her feathers for her and will squat and spread her wings and lift all her feathers. One of these days I will have someone take a picture of her doing that for me. I can't take the picture, bc my hands are full, and she's so cute, I just cannot resist. the best is when she comes from the dust bath. she hops in my lap, gets all comfy, spreads her feathers and dumps a load of dirt in my lap.

Eggs,
can't count them before they're laid. have to wait til they've been made.
Eggs,
shouldn't count them before they hatch. smart to wait, your numbers'll match.
Eggs,
love to eat them, and want my first one, who will lay it? will waiting be fun?

the answer is yes, resoundingly loud!
of my first egg, I shall be so proud!
the very first egg, won't be eaten by me,
I'll blow it and paint it for the top of my tree!
an Egg Angel I'll make, with feathers I find
if my first egg is blue, I surely won't mind!

so the waiting begins,
OK has a grin.
he knows how I feel
to want that first meal.

Eggs Eggs Eggs!

Thanks for keeping it going. Love it. Long story short had a sick chick yesterday. I expect "eggbound". Worked with her till 6:30 last night when she laid a soft shell egg. She seems back to normal now. Roosted with the other seven. We shall see. Work today and a event to attend tonight. You guys are great I will certainly catch up when it calms down. SIX

SIX ......and a soft shell egg that got composted

Hey cheek a - those are the best naps. Little peep is doing well, still helping him up the ladder, along with another little peep (blackie) that seems to have bonded with him. His wound is closing remarkably well. Little natural miracle that. Very glad. Amazing how much dirt they can load on isn't it. Some of mine seem to really enjoy a good head rub, especially around the ears. The little guys actually like to have those tiny fluff baby feathes pulled out and scratched. My spoiled layer pullets do sit in my chair on the poarch..and amazingly don't poop in it!
OK hmmm, that must be your sometimes layer. Glad to hear she's alright. Hopefully time will regulate her egg cycle, I think they don't know what to do with the new changes they have sometimes. Their behavior is odd at times, my pullets are very interested in the other hens laying and act like an egg is something that fell from the sky. The chicks with the hens look like little aliens to them. They can't figure it out.
Keep those talented rhymes coming! Very good there! I blew out 2 dozen green and pink eggs this spring so the gkids could decorate them for the Christmas tree. Put them in a box on the counter where the dogs ate them....I guess I shouldn't have been adding calcium to their diets huh. Well I'll have to do another batch when the egg numbers are back up there. I use a dremel with a bur bit.
Question! Does anybody have trouble posting pics? They changed a program and now I can't access my gallery, all I get are images and jpg numbers and admin has no real answers...my tech support is an hour drive away...but I will ask them next time I'm over there. Anybody good with the tech stuff? It's really stating to annoy me..:/

I don't have an answer for you on the pictures, my albums are all intact, and it's running fine for me to upload...

but some folks were reporting issues uploading .gif files... if your pictures are too large, that might be part of the problem.
