Can't believe we are getting this much wind in Kentucky. I just went out and closed the windows in the coop. Wind is blowing 25 to 30 mph with gust up to 40mph. Temp here is expected in the upper 30's tonight. As I was walking away it sounded like Roger mumbled "thanx"

it's safe, it's warm, it's our home, it's our wonderful awesome chicken dome.
the wind is howling, the rain is pouring, but in our dome we're snugly snoring.

every hour we spy a light, Mother is checking in the night.
we're roosting together, she can tell, it's dry, it's calm, and all is well.

we know we're set, we're well prepared, we wish our fortune could be shared
with friends in the valley who are in the dark, this storm has started to make it's mark.

our sister chickens are down there, in a covered wagon coop,
they started laying yesterday, so give a mighty

Lost power early in the am, snow is wet, heavy, and sticking to everything. One of the pullets was just sitting in the snow, with it drifting all around her, she seemed confused...she is young so I put her on a camp chair out of the wind on the poarch. Several stags are hanging out under the coop, most are inside, and a few are sitting out in the snow, just laying up. I watched one stag learning to walk on top of two feet of snow, then he looked around like he just remembered...oh yeah...I can fly! No bodies really hungry...they are just waiting it out.

Glad to hear you (and chickens) are okay! The tv news showed lots of snow in WV. Haven't seen Sallysec and MotorcycleChick online recently. Sally's lights were flickering. MC has family in NJ. Cheeka, are you out there? Hope everyone is safe.

Hard to believe all the terrible weather when we are having a bit of unseasonable warmth. Upper 70s for the last few days and the rain we were expecting on Halloween won't come in until Thurs now. The delay is apparently due to Sandy! Lots of little green things are starting to sprout. Chickens are happy about that!
