Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I haven't heard from anyone in North Jersey yet. Brother and friends in South are okay. Boats not removed from the water got beat up.
Here our lights flickered, but we kept power. Birds are unhappy about having to stay inside, but scratch and cabbage are at least helping. Two eggs by nine thismorning. I will check again in a few. I am bringing a bantam Polish to someone, and she is swapping me a pair of Ameracaunas.

Sandy's not bothering me here in TN, except for cold weather. Dropped 40 degrees in a day.

animallover, brrrr, those big temp differences are a killer, hard to shake the chill... we get that here too, but it's stayed mild since yesterday, consistant upper 40's low 50's... windy

I've had an interesting day with the gang ~ 3 eggs, 2 RIR brown, and Blu's dark green...

I had my doubts about the portable run... and the wind... so I put all the birds together, all's been great, so I just went out at 5:30 to check, and the makeshift divider was open. I did not leave it that way... I think Si figured out how to push it open... but they were all mingling together quite happily, Peach, the banty was in the apple coop alone, but seemed fine ~ I took her out and brought her in the main area to make sure she wasn't hungry or thirsty or intimidated... she ate and drank, and roosted in the main room with Archie, who is such a ...lol... chicken... he was trying to sneak underneath her, like he's her baby... he's 4 times her size... they do take really good care of each other. Royce was dancing the skitter dance to show Si he's the King Roo, but he did nothing aggressive at all, not even when he tried to mount one of his girls and Si went over and knocked him off. So, I took the divider out. it's time soon for them to roost, and I will make sure they are spread out and settling in... but it looks like the merge is complete!

I'm making me and my brother and parents a German Pancake with Pan-Gazed Apple Cinnamon Slices. Yummy. First time I've ever tried making or eating one.

Sounds like your chickens are doing better than mine even with the stormy weather and temperature drops. Only 2 eggs today.

Well, Peach (my BO) is on the nest now, but it's 4pm and getting pretty late...

Mmmmm.... German pancakes, chili...... haven't figured out what we're having for dinner yet. There's always scrambled eggs!

i bet it was! it's been a long while since i threw together a bunch of ingredients that I happened to have in the cabinets and baked it to see how it would come out... sometimes it would be like cake, sometimes denser, sometimes downright chewy, but always fun and usually quite edible, maybe tonight I should get creative, and use a bunch of eggs!

FOUR......Today we laid Four!!!

everything is still hunky dory in the enclosure with all the birds together... nobody is misbehaving, no pulled feathers... so when I got home from work today, I took that last store bought dozen, which was completely untouched, bc of course... they started laying the day I bought them, or the day after... and they are only within date for another week... I scrambled them all up, all 12. I gave a nice spoon each to the dog and cats, and the rest I brought out to the gang. I took the egg shells and crushed them up to go with it. it was a huge hit, which was nice, bc it was unpleasant outside and I really didn't want them to go out. I did let them out a little later in the afternoon, but it was so crappy, they went back on their own after only 20 minutes.

my honey is on his way up for a couple of days, have supper ready for when he gets here... it was easy... chili... he hasn't had any yet!

Hi everybody! It started raining this afternoon, because it always rains here on Halloween! Looks like trick-or-treating is a bust.

We'll just curl up in front of the fire, watch It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, eat a few chocolate peanutbutter cups, and count our blessings.

I got two eggs this morning, but haven't checked for more since I got home. Only 4 yesterday, so am expecting a bonanza!
