I would exept the nearest Petco is 2 1/2 hours away.
 
I'd be careful about Petco, or any of the other pet stores. The dog owners are't always paying attention to their dogs. Not saying don't do it, just be very aware, and ready to pick up your bird quickly if need be. I don't take my dog into places like that anymore, due to getting lunged at by other people's pets. I can only imagine the reaction a chicken would get. Of course the people reaction would be hilarious.
