Should I do this?

That's my only hangup about bamboo....it can take over an area. I planted some back in the 90s, cause I thought it looked cool. Over a decade later I'm still killing off runners that are popping up 50 yards from where the original cluster was planted. Thats why I suggested rivercane. Its native at least.

Neat! Maybe I'll plant some for them too!
Ya know, to be honest, I have NEVER seen a snake on my property.... I know that doesn't mean they aren't around somewhere but they just aren't that common in my neck of the woods.

But I'll keep my eyes open for them anyway.

Theres not supposed to be ANY snakes in Maine... but i'm sure thats not true..
Maybe just an old myth or something??
Hubbys parents live by Lake Sebago ..

There really aren't except for maybe the occasional grass snake. They look like fishin lure to me

There ae like 160 different types of bamboo, there is what is called clumping bamboo that travels very slowly. Timber bamboo is not clumping.
