Should i get more guinea fowls?

Yes she is calling for a mate. Once they are paired up the calling subsides. Not all males are content with a single hen especially when their current hen goes broody. Some will only take one mate.

I just love these birds, they are so entertaining. It's almost time for eggs! &it will be their 1st time, I hope she gets a mate cuz it seems like its very important for her.

My guineas put themselves to bed at sundown. ..they sometimes go in their coop to roost but mostly they roost next to their coop on the perches I put up. Their coop is in my horses run in barn (no stalls). I really dont have neighbors but an old gentleman down the road, he doesn't have birds.

Same with mine. 600ish and they're in the coop, unless something scares them into the tree. That's happened- 2 havent done it again; 1persisted for another night in freezing rain, cold,alone..seems to have been the cure.

It gets to 20 below excluding wind chill here so not sure how hardy Guineas can be in the winter.

It gets to -30°F here. My guineas do fine.

Ok we reached -35 with windchill. that 15 mph with -20 degrees temp so that's pretty darn hardy.

We get a lot higher wind speed than 15 mph.

The hens can drive you stark raving mad! If mine continue to go on at night I’m going to put them in the freezer. Lately I’ve been having a lot of trouble with a hen or two going on all night long buckwheat buckwheat buckwheat buckwheat, followed by a boy or two.

I guess that makes sense being it is time to couple up and find a mate. It’s quite possible I have an odd man or woman out?

If it were up to me I’d have just boys to eat ticks all day long but I would miss that crazy buckwheat call during the daytime when I’m working at home and bored. Best of luck with your flock!

Want to know a not-so-secret-secret? We've had a late hatcher living inside w/us all winter. She's 4 months old now, has a playpen inside and covered kennel outside where she & adults are acclimating to each other. But she still goes in her brooder in the evening to sleep (she's getting a new coop). She's pretty quiet in the evening, until my husband makes sarcastic comments to me, then she stares right at him and lets fury bellow. Then she turns her tail feathers on him, aligns herself on her perch and resumes quiet rewhistling.
