should i get this incubator?

You still got a good deal.. that is about 1/3 the new price..

I do not know if the metal trays in the hatcher are deeper than the regular trays, but

unless you have extra deep metal trays or
unless you have the metal trays covered, the chicks can still jump out.. trust me..

Thanks!
See the metal cages in mine? They're used for the big emu chicks. Any how I was worried about hatching in them because of how big they are and being uneven flooring. But all 42 chicks hatched out great and none where crippled.

I checked out that e-bay ad for the plastic egg holders.. They are just a bit less expensive than the ones at Cutlersupply.com.
I don't know what shipping brings them up to $$ .. they are also described as "used".. that should not e a problem,though..

I don't know if you can stack them inside the metal trays.. I will have to give that a try once I get some room in one of my bators.. I think it would work..

so i have a couple of questions is this model suppose to have a wafer thermostat in it? also where can you find the modle # on these things i think it may be newer than what they said also what else will i need to get this thing ready for hatching? thanks for your help

I am a bit confused.. I assume that the unit on the left as you view the photo is the incubator.. It has two turning trays in it. right?

If that support bar in the hatcher is doing nothing, check it to see if it is identical to the two in the incubator. You need one like that to support the front of the turning tray..

do the turning trays turn?

those 2 pegs look like some sort of stop or hangars..??

yes that is the incubator and has 2 turning trays and i have the 3rd one but need the front bracket to put it in and yes that bar is the exact one that i need for the incubator to put up that tray. yes the turning trays turn i made sure of that. and i think those 2 pegs are for the bracket that is suppose to be there but they but the bracket in the hatcher instead of the incubator. when i got there these ppl did not know much about this machine as it was her husbands and they went through a divorce but they do look new and inside and all the parts work on them

I would steal that bracket and use it in the incubator, then..

I think you will need a 1/4" bolt and nut for the front pivot.. maybe one for the back too, if there is not one there.

the bottom bracket should be about 4" from the floor..
the middle one should be about 8" above that and the top bracket should be about 8" above the middle bracket.. that should leave the top bracket about 8" below the plywood shelf.

Is your thermostat a digital or solid state ?

I think the wafer back-up is below and a bit to the rear of the primary stat.. Is there a 90* bent adjusting screw with a wingnut on it outside the cabinet ?

i dont know if it is a digital or solid state? and no there is not a wafer adjustment knob on the outside of the incubator. do you think i really need one? they are so cheep online its not that big of a deal if i need to get one. i think i am going to have to take that bracket from the hatcher and use it for the incubator but is that bracket used for support in the hatcher thanks

I would take that bracket out of the hatcher and use it in the incubator.. You can come up with any old brace to hold those stationary trays in the hatcher..

I find it difficult to believe there is not a back-up thermostat in the incubator.. I didn't think GQF made any without a back-up..

the wafer does not have a knob... it has an L shaped handle with a wing nut ..
