This chick pipped at about 2:45am and has made little progress since then. I know it can take a while my only concern is that the membrane is yellowing. I have read conflicting answers on whether you should help if its been pipped for 12 hours without zipping or if the membrane is becoming too tough for the egg to get through. Any advice is welcome! The humidity seems to be fine according to our hydrometer.

The humidity has been at about 70-75%. It's gone up because one chick has hatched and is still in the incubator.

Oh then that’s good. I would keep an eye on the chick especially if you can’t see their beak. But as long as you can see their beak it’s fine. Once you stop seeing their beak for a while and if they aren’t** zipping that’s when you should look into assisting. I only say that because I had a chick externally pip really well but never zipped and it turned out to be dead because it got stuck turning or something.

Thank you!

How is it looking? I know it’s only been three hours since your post so I’m prepared to hear it’s still just externally pipped

It is still just about the same. No progress. The chick is still poking their beak out though.

If you can see the beak is it moving like its chewing something? If it is it's still absorbing its yolk and it is not ready to hatch yet.
