I have a Australorp hen that that is bloody for the second time this year so im thinking about letting her hatch a few. But my rooster is a bantam columbian wyandotte and im not sure how they will turn out. Will they get any mixed coloring or will they go one way or the other? And size...?

if one is full sized and one a bantam, then you should get mostly chicks in a mid size between them with a few bigger/ smaller ones (stats wise) depends on the colouring of the hen and rooster and their parents as to what genes they throw.

So basically with not knowing their parents and having no gene knowledge or comprehension I won't really be able to know how they will look unless I hatch them... :/

pretty much.... you could get some lovely colours and patterns though. and if shes broody.... well if you do decide to let her hatch them I would love to see some pictures

Thanks for the input everybody. I think ill let her go for it and ill post pictures when/if they hatch and as they grow. Im really hoping for something different and pretty to look at!!

So two are hatched but I cant get good pitures yet. One hatched later in the evening on Tuesday and wednesday morning two were peeping but had not pipped. By the time I got home from work wednesday one of those had hatched and the other didnt. So I checked it every couple hours for more peeping or scratching inside the egg and heard nothing. I think the shells are too thick and it may have died before it could get out. The first one was pipped for 12 hours before I decided it looked like it needed a little help so I carefully pulled just a little of the shell and in an hour it was out the rest of the way on its own. And there is one other egg i havent heard anything from, but it was layed in the nest by my amber sex link a couple days after my australorp started sitting. So that one should hatch a couple days later than the rest right?

Sorry everyone thats been waiting for pictures. Here are a couple of them at 4 weeks. They are just over 5 weeks now.
