Should i teach my duck how to fly?

Yeah, no pekins can't fly. Don't waste your time trying to teach him. If you ever have a bird that can grow up to fly it will not need any teaching either.

Really? Tell that to my pekin who a few years ago decided all on his own to take off and disappear into the wild blue yonder never to be seen again.

First of all he is a pekin but lately he refuses to eat and weighs around 2 kilos.
Secondly i've been wanting to teach him to fly because i feel its a natural behaviour every duck should know. But i dont know whether or not i should teach him.

Pekins are are standard/heavy breed of duck so they can’t fly. Due to there tiny wings and large heavy body. Also, it is most likely a better idea not to teach your ducks to fly, as flying can attract predators.

Im feeding him a mix of seeds,commercial duck food and a variety of fruits and veggies in an elongated ceramic plant pot i bought specifically for him (i clean it every day)

If he isn’t eating what do you notice any symptoms like laying down a lot legs weak? Can’t walk well? Eyes bright?

His eyes are normal, he's more active than he used to since he was 4 months old he can walk like normal his legs seem perfect and he rarely lies down (thats normal since he didnt like lying down as a chick)Basically he's perfectly normal.

He does eat but just barely atleast a couple ''bites'' of feed a day,eve even resorted to hand feeding him with a bit of success.

He sure won’t last long if he isn’t eating much. Have you tried making him a nice mash with his feed and warm water? Might entice him to eat.
