That is an interesting story! I hope you have good luck in creating the breed you want. I suggest adding a less heavy breed into the flock, if you want good predator evasion chickens. Old English Games and Old English Game Bantams would be a great breed for that part. I have an Old English Game Bantam mix cockerel named Jasper; if he ever gets out of his pen, good luck on catching him.
The American Game would be very similar to the old English game. The sub-flock that split off happened before I introduced game into the main flock so they don't have any game genetics. Just with natural selection they are mostly smaller than the originals. Every once in a while a bigger one will crop up, but the smaller ones seem to do better.

I am working on a chicken landrace population, or maybe a planned barnyard mix? I'd like to see pictures of your mixed breeds. Please identify breeds, if you know them.

This young lady is a Bielefelder x Black Australorp, currently almost 8 weeks old.
This is Tony! A silkie-sebright hybrid, 3/4 silkie 1/4 sebright, he's 4 months old in two days!!

Followup on the Jersey Giant x RIR cockerel. The coloring is amazing enough that I would be tempted to breed him just to stabilize the color. The red is deep enough that my sister thought he was bleeding. It's coming in on his wings and hackles, but not the saddle feathers yet.

Skorpion and Midnight(first pic), Blackbelt, jiujitsu and Yasuke (the three cockerels in the second pic) which I believe to be American game mixes. Their mother is the hen next to the white frizzle.
