Chicken wire isn't predator-proof, use hardware cloth. Chicken wire is good for keeping chickens out of gardens, works fine as roofing for a daytime run to keep hawks out, but it's not great for much else.

See what I mean? Pretty paint makes it happen! I really like this shed. This is my old as dirt, shed turned coop. Its been moved 100 times and needs repairs every other week.
Flower boxes, on a chicken coop? Let me know how that works out for you!!My old thing has been painted over and over so many times. I check it regularly for holes and fix them and fix them and fix them. But, oh how I dream of a big beautiful coop. One with a porch and flower boxes.

Works out great! The secret is.....fake flowers.![]()
When we were young and stupid and bought our house the previous owners had these huge flower gardens. I knew next to nothing about flowers and asked the lady how much work the gardens were and if the plants were annuals or perennials (thinking about potential cost). She told me they were a mix of everything. We bought the house, fall came, a few flowers died but many were still pretty. Then the frost came, and snow, and I realized there were still flowers......yes the flower beds were mostly weeds with fake flowers added for color!!!
Like I said, I was young and stupid.
Chickens would probably leave them alone. Wouldn't trust ducks around them, though!Works out great! The secret is.....fake flowers.![]()

This is the best! Two metal sheds connected by a 55-gal plastic barrel with the bottom cut out. Roosts in left shed, nests in right one. I used to keep food and water in the right one until a bear trashed it all. 300 sq ft dog lot run now in front of white shed.
