Show me your poop boards!

Pics
Yes, we did paint them. It's been almost 5 years now and the paint is getting rather scratched and worn off so they could use a new coat. I'm surprised at how long it's lasted though!
We used Zissner indoor/outdoor primer and two coats of Stormcoat white acrylic semi-gloss over it. That flaked off when I washed the boards. What did you use?

Your climate is obviously warmer yuan mine. I am jealous.

That was 5 years ago but I can try to find out. We may actually have the paint can laying around here somewhere lol. I know we didn't primer it first or anything, just did a double coat.

Hot weather also means smelly poop though... I guess that could be better than frozen poop.

I have two 55 gallon drum compost tumblers. I've posted pics before, but cannot find them at the moment. They are laid sideways with a fence post through them as an axle to tumble them around. They break things down pretty quickly, especially in warm weather. They are frozen solid at the moment... I also keep a pile that I don't maintain so well, but I intend to keep it in the chicken run this year and let them do the turning for me. I wouldn't through poop strait into their runs - that would go into the tumblers since I'm sure they'll poop plenty in the run already.
@Ridgerunner I found a pic of the compost tumblers. These are my chicken poop, garden waste and kitchen scrap processing plants.

I was happy to hear that you are a fellow composter! Frankly my double compost tumbler has been known to stink sometimes (I add green kitchen scraps too) but my coop and run hardly smell because of the scrape boards and mulching of my run. I also poop scoop droppings from run and free range to add to tumbler. I have found adding carbon (leaves) has been an almost instant neutralizer (and godsend!). I am cooking to blackgold in about 3-4 weeks if I also add horse poop to hurry things up. Then let chickens scratch bugs out (and then re-scratch bugs out... and then re-scratch bugs out) seems a pretty win, win. Pathogens are what I fear.

Yes! Send a little bit of your cold our way!! I am sad to be sweating this winter.

OK. Here's my roosts. It's two levels with 4 total branches. The 2 levels are spaced out in the middle so that chickens on top are not pooping on chickens on the lower roost. I am going to definitely place board/s under the roosts. I'm debating on 1 or 2 poop boards. I would like to just do 1 under all of the roosting area. Still working out how I will surface the poop board and what litter material I will use if any - leaning towards PDZ and sand combo currently. I included a poor drawing of my idea. What are your thoughts? Would you do it differently?
