So what would be the reason for drop pens over tie cords?
I have one tie cord and tried it out.. I dont like the way my roosters tug on it and pull their legs. And its a pain in the butt to get them on and off it.

I want the drop pens just move them onto grass or into the sun on cold mornings. I figure its easier than tie cord.

I may just do a few simple round pens. I have extra fencing.

How do you do your round pens?
 
The idea of tie cords are so the bird has more freedom of movement. Drop pens aren't a replacement for a tie cord though. More like a tie cord or a regular size pen.
I want them to isolate birds for short periods of time.
Shubin, check some of the other styles of leg hitches for the tie cords or just tie a slip knot or comparable knot.
