Heres my Black Ruble Hatch as a stag thats about 2 years old now and a Jap hen.

Good looking rooster will have show my son in law. He wants black hatch.

update on project feral... they all went wild and only come back to his ranch every 3-5 days. He thinks they travel up and down the main canyon. says he might have lost one or two.

The neighbors are just a bunch of meth heads that stay up for days and days screaming and fighting out in the front yard at 4am. They killed my chickens because they were in pens close to their yard and they crow and they dont like it. I all of my chickens to the other side of my property and havent had any more problem and it could be that I told them that if I catch them on my property again Ill kill them lol (I really wouldnt kill them unless they were posing a threat to me or my family). I do plan on making my own breed of chicken by crossing the black ruble hatch over the hatch/asil hen and Im also gonna cross him over a leiper hen. Im gonna try and bake them black. When they are bred the pure black to black they will come red and black but the red if very very dark.

Thanks @greybird123 I like him alot myself. Im gonna breed him to a hatch/asil hen and I should have some black stags that Ill have for sell Im sure. Ill post them on here for everyone to look at and enjoy.

bummer about your neighbors. Good for you tho, I would have be tempted to drop someone or take revenge, but death threats work well too

Sounds like a cool breeding project. Sounds like a Bobby boles project. From what I read he did some black oriental crosses a few decades ago. Are you thinking about breeding the black leipers over black asils too?

I just have the leiper hen so Ill just put her under the black cock. Im excited to see what I have this time next year. Im also gonna breed a sid taylor/yellow leg hatch to a leiper hen and some pure clarretts.

Real challenges will be when hens commit to brooding and when adults go into molt. If trees devoid of leaves then Great-horned Owls may put a dent in their abundance. This assumes the birds have adopted mindset that flying long and hard to a tree is best option when challenged by canids. That usually requires either seeing flock mates taken by a canid or momma teaching you to be very scared at even sight of predator and giving you signal to fly. The signalling, responding to signal, and physical ability to respond come in stages.

Yea for them lol. I havent had any more trouble out of them. They were staying with my neighbors and I talked to the guy whos actually renting the place and he put them on the road I do believe. It also helps if you have a good friend thats a state cop that starts watching over your place for ya at night.
