Man I've never really been interested in selling hatching eggs but over the past week or so I've tossed easily 100+ fertile eggs. Just tossed another 3 dozen today. Mostly crosses.

Pretty good timing other grey went Broody yesterday and redquill layed her 12th egg yesterday or today so I'll be switching eggs tonight

Nice. It's snowing right now. Hopefully it won't get too cold after these next couple nights and I will let some hens set on a few.

Good luck with those SDM!

Last night I went to candle the eggs one of your blues is sitting on. I was going to remove any that were not developing, so she could cover them a little more easily with these cold nights coming up. She was having none of that and the first 5 were good so I left here be. I had on a thin pair of gloves, but she would bite and twist, broke the skin in a few spots. I think she will be a good mama!

Transition was a success. Put a nestbox in the above ground cages with fresh pine needles and leaves put 12 redquill eggs feed and water, went and scooped her up out the back and she went right on the others.

Had a cool front come through prolly around 55should be nice for the sportsmans show tomorrow. Them hens get hot underneath especially with pulling feathers you should just let all of your hens set havoc

Sounds like u gonna have a good Broody Lmljsl a lil protective lol. Seems like good fertility too.

Glad to hear the move went well!

Yeah, the fertility seemed good. She is setting on 12 eggs, so I just wanted to pull anything I could. We are supposed to be down in the mid 20's the next couple of nights.

Be surprised at how much them moms and eggs can go through. I was sure a single egg layed by a hen that seemed to always be off the nest I surely thought was not gonna hatch so It wasn't on my mind and was gonna throw it

But then..........

Well I'll be

And then after it hatched I still just left it, it ran around and in the other domes under the electric fence eventually I gave up thinking it would be killed by something and penned it up

I would have a ridiculous amount of chicks if I let em all set. Although I will let most set if they are wanting too
