I know what you mean, I had only one buttermilk pullet this year and she's missing along with a couple more.
Yeah I got a black pullet I need to pen. Only have two pullets from this specific breeding so I need to keep her. Still running loose though.

I just shot a 4 foot copper head. It had went in my chicken tractor and now three my 5 day old grey babies are dead . My dog penned it down on the way out the tractor and was raising h$ll so I went to check with gun and flashlight and blowed its head off. Damage was minimal only have 5 left of that clutch and hoping hen didnt get hit. Gave dog some tetra vet 10. Just in case. Hope its ok for dogs. She's been excellent chicken guard. 7 year old bull mastiff

.44 cal really works well on snake heads
Lol. U obviously have a snake problem and I had a raccoon issue. It's always something.
Knock on wood but I hatched way more than I needed figuring I would lose more. Well so far haven't lost many and I got a whole bunch that need penning soon.

If dog hit keep it from getting too hot. Couple years back my female got bit by Osage Copperhead so we treated her as if having a severe allergic reaction. Same dog still partial about killing snakes although approach more refined.

i know a lot of guys keep moth balls in with there fly tying feathers and furs. I tried but I can't stand the smell of them. And it doesn't taste too good either. I got a bad habit of licking my fingers when tying flies so I quit using them.

This little ruble stag has raised his hackles a few times now. Trying to tame him down a bit so I don't have to chop his head off.
