Looking good

Looks nice Sdm! So I have a question about eyes... Your stag has a nice round eye, very alert, which is what I prefer. Some birds seem to have more of an oblong eye, "space" at the front of the eye towards the beak. Does this make sense? They just do not have the same look as the stag shown, but the the birds can be good in every other way. Would you cull those, or is it just a personal preference thing?

Nah I wouldn't cull for that, he seems alert like that probably cause I took him to a different area to take that pic and he's seeing a lot of stags. I do pay attention to how they look.or react when I walk.one through the pens but not the actual shape of the eye or socket

Thanks, anyone else have thoughts on this?

I would not cull for that reason

Thank you.

If you have several choices, your always going to pick the the one that has the most going for him or her. I didn't choose a stag this spring to breed because of his tail feathers even though I knew the problem was other birds he was penned with that did it. Well come to find out he is one of the best performers that I raised last year. I'll see how he molts out this time to see if he makes a broodcock.

I was watching a Filipino breeder on youtube mention that as undesirable, and I think they mentioned certain eye parasites cause that.... but dont quote me on that.

My white rooster had it, but is very healthy otherwise. Only picture I have where you can kind of see it (if you zoom in).
