I call it the Iron Dome. Haven't lost a bird yet, and don't ever plan to. Hopefully we get some rain today.
Very nice, sounds more like a compound. Always nice to know the birds are safe. Just in the last week, the hawks have been cruising the chickens and the coyotes have been making a racket at night.

Thanks man. I kinda feel bad about keeping them locked up but there are too many predators in the area, so to make up for it I let them out for a couple hours everyday, but in alternating order so I don't completely lose my mind when I herd them back in. There's a whole lot of baby frogs, jumping jacks, and crickets around right now, I figure that's an excellent source of protein since they're all moulting, and it would be a waste if I didn't let them have at it lol it's taken a lot of hard work but I can sleep tight at night knowing there are no free meals here

Will do but I forwarn you I he is game but also a man fighting, hating everything, brutal nasty sob lol. Great with hens though. So far his offspring been ok. I got a few white kelso stags off him (bred to white kelso hens) and the owners couldn't be happier

I just fell in love from that description hahaha as long as he's good to my girls then we are gravy.

I lose a few to predators but having the young ones free ranging is far better for em if you can do it. Trap and shoot the predators. I don't care what anybody says. If you stay on top of it your losses will be minimal.
Actually I meant it's better for me. I have had less problems free ranging most of the young birds than keeping them all penned. Pecking, killing each other, cleaning pens etc.. I still have penned a few from hatch for the ones I absolutely wanted to keep.

aint many people that trap in here I don't think except me. For the most part I use snares with no lure. Fur prices are in the hole this year. Ain't gonna be doing much except around the yard to keep the birds alive. Can't use footholds here except coon cuffs etc
