Yours ain't lean. They're skinny little weaklings. Haha. Yes all are well fed. = power.
Well fed is good for cold climates but I dont think you are gaining any power. Maybe potential to gain more muscle lugging around extra weight. (thats why fat guys always have big calf muscles).

BTW... You dont have to live close by to be my friend.

Estimation of power can have mutlple measures. One is jumping abilibility. Another is the ability to continue the jump by powered flight. Then you have the energy imparted by striking with wings. Next is endurance. Birds that are under weight very much lack endurance. Chickens are small enough that moving through air in not unlike the sensation we get when moving through water.

Power and strength in the leg comes from the thigh. If your telling me your quail on stilts have more power than say a medium to medium high good weight ruble you've been smoking way waayy too much

I never said that leggy birds are more powerful.

All I was saying was that my birds seem to be leaner than yours.

I can feel which birds have more power and it is usually the heavier birds, regardless of station.

My long leg birds have power too, and the additional reach... but it probably comes at the cost of speed.
I also have medium to medium-high good weight hatches not too dissimilar to your rubles.

Depends on your definition of lean. Being lean but with very little muscle mass doesn't amount to much except a track star in both humans and chickens
