Thanks Flypen.  It is interesting that you mention the pea comb, yellow legged.  Are there any pea comb yellow legged families of fowl?  I had a family of single comb yellow legged miners, no where near as good as SDM's miners, so I just kept one nice hen from them and crossed them with a male from SDM's.  I don't think I hatch enough to really know, but I get green, blue, dark and yellow legs out of the crosses.  I intentionally used a pea comb male from SDM.  Interestingly to me, they do not come pea comb yellow legged.

The Typewriters that I have now will throw a pea comb yellow leg, the only reason for this is someone added something to them somewhere down the line. The original 2 families that made them where straight comb. None of the Typewriters should ever come with dark legs. The Miners are as sdm said, some of the breeders that had them bred to the white or splash side and some bred to the blue breasted reds. You always were bet against for having off colored fowl regardless and if you ever got to compete in one of the world championships over 95% of the fowl would be Reds or Greys.

Hello everyone quick question I'm going to be looking at two trios. Butcher n lacy. I will find more about these birds but he had over 300 roosters and a guy came up from Texas and bought him out. Be downsized but kept the best ones. Any advise. On the two breeds. He has been in exihibition with his birds. One of the originals came from a proven batch from Kentucky I believe. Will get more info but going to pick up two trios This weekend. I believe he has clarets as well. Sorry if spelled wrong.

You should Google the Butchers and view all the pictures you can find, they are 100% straight comb, 100% white or pearl legs. You can go back a couple pages on this thread and find some awesome Lacy stags that sdm posted, and Google them to so you'll have a idea of what they typically look like. The Lacys should be pea comb and pearl legs, about 80% have white streamers in their tail. If you can get the breeder to display some performance that'll help you choose also. Definitely don't buy below average size gamefowl, mid 4s to mid 5s is better (pounds)

Dang 109%!!

I started getting a lil nervous about mine but their streamers started coming in at about 7mo old

I thought it was white feathers I didn't know it was black feathers that turned white

Morning SMD.  Thanks for the info.  That looks like it will be a great read!  I will have to copy and past that text into something else.  That white text on black background is tough to read this early in the morning. lol.

Very cool about the women who contacted you for eggs to hatch for her grandpa!  Those are the little gems that make you feel good about sharing quality fowl!  I know I sure appreciate the Miners I got from you!  Thanks again.
you're welcome if you were closer I'd give u some more. I've decided to clear out most and just keep a couple trios of each. Getting a lil much especially with the time change but I get off a bunch this time of year every year
