I am trying to film that activity but have a hard time getting camera ready. I can have a pullet / hen coming into lay that walks down a row of pens so have every cock / stag she passes try to say he has the best nest site. I wander how the pullet / hen advertises her status?

I've never spent a lot of time watching the courting that they do other than a few laughs for a couple minutes. As you can see this guy is doing his best to get her in the nest box.

Fyi chickens do a lot better than expected when bathed. I had to last spring during the wet season. Yeah I did it I bathed chickens had to.

ok tips appreciated. How did you go about bathing em. I got a miner hen that obviously likes to play in the mud.

Warm water in the tub. Just stuck them under the faucet and washed. Once the warm water hit them they would practically fall asleep. No soap just water and work the mud out with your fingers towel dry them a blow dryer

thats what I figured. All that rain yesterday then turned to snow this morning and still going strong. What a mess. I give up.

make sure she is really dry, hate to see the water freeze on her.. yikes!

maybe consider keeping the bathed chickens inside for the night...
