Beautiful!  I dubbed three this morning, I really dislike dubbing those large single combs.  The one pea comb was a piece of cake!
me too. I don't usually dub chickens but when I do I prefer peacomb.

That blues brother was a straight and he was a squirter the Albany too

I have been hearing about the rains from friends trying to get work done in the orchards out your way.  Many springs ago I was out your way and they took me past an orchard to show me the top of a dozer that just sank in the orchard.  I do not know my dozers, but it looked like a good sized one and all you could see was the top.

Yes that central valley is a big puddle when it rains heavy. I wouldn't doubt it if the tractor was not on gravel. Soft loomy soil. My in laws have farm there. I'm a bit further south in more of a desert region. No tractors sinking here, but the rain total this season is double the average already

We are getting some serious wind this morning, as in the kind that can roll pens if it were to come a little more from the south. Currently winds sustained 22 mph out of WSW with gust in the mid 30's. Same sustained from due south plus how valley funnels makes for a lot stronger gusts. Birds will be trying to stay out of wind most of day.

One pen rolled releasing cock where he fought another through wire. Bird on outside was getting zapped big time by fencer and I did to when having to grab him by the head. He was getting zapped so much he was worn out.

Stake the pens. It works. Haven't had one blow flat yet 60-70 mph winds

Staked and screwed down on opposite corners. It's a pain in the *ss but it's better than mangled birds

I am yanking off the covers. Pens moved a lot for holding them with anchors. Normally covers come off on their own but some reason this one did not. Without covers, the pens are not affected by winds shy of what a tornado offers and birds hunker down on the ground.

Wind really getting fun here. Just looked out office window to see three beehives toppled and busted up. Bees are going to be hot when I go out to put everything back together.
