oh i see! they need special place they real nice but i dont have place to keep that kind i only have regular chick so probaly not good ideaI breed them. They are called Gamefowl and they are not like regular chickens. They are beautiful, but extremely athletic as well. Best chicken I know of, thats why I have a whole bunch.
My dogs had chicken killing problems when they were younger but I was able to teach them to leave the chickens alone. They naturally want to protect the yard so that part is easy. Just need to train them that the chickens are not toys.

why is that? Any scientific reason or just cause someone said? If they aren't given high protein what specifically happens?Concerning my non-game hens, I was randomly poking around on one of the EE threads and it seems this breed requires higher protein levels all the time versus most layer breeds. So I will be keeping them on higher protein year round.
