I want to trim spurs. Do you just take the points off

I just take the points off with wire cutters... Underneath the hard stuff is a soft growth that will bleed if cut.
Probably not the way people normally do it, but it works and prevents excessive damage to hens and allows the rooster to walk normal again (if really long and sharp).

Hacksaw. Cut back to about 1". My birds usually 4+ before such needed to facilitate walking.

Lost power at the house for a few hours Thursday, 19 out of 41 eggs hatched. I lost some good eggs, most all of them pipped then died.
