First hatch of the year didn't go so well. Probably didn't help we have had some of the coldest weather all winter. The hen started with 10 eggs and all 10 were fertile and developing. About 10 days in, I noticed some shell pieces in the pen. I thought it was odd, so when I looked, she had 8 eggs left with some yoke on them. I left her and yesterday she hatched out 4 chicks, 3 dark ones and 1 that is a light tan color. I didn't expect the light tan coloring! She is a dark blue and the male is black. The other eggs were rotten.

Not bad at all for the way the weather has been. I say she did great.
