For oxygen exchange, or pressure equalization when express mailed? I ask because I have heard some swear that the eggs don't need oxygen until development starts... and they actually recommend sealing the eggs in ziploc bags to retard air cell growth to minimize damage... have you gotten better results reported back since drilling the holes?
that shipment resulted in 100% development. It was asked to do by a buyer yrs ago and I just stuck with it.

Brilliant idea, thank you for the info... I've had excellent results with high density foam blocks my fiance gets from work... big ones that fit in the priority boxes... I split them horizontally, lay a cut down paper tray in for amount, set eggs in, settle fine shavings around them to keep them stable and lay the top sections of foam across the top... it compresses down just enough to sandwich them securely when the box is closed up... but it doesn't work too well for medium and smaller eggs... can't wait to try this out...

I tried 2 ways the cups and some foam m nd a like you re explaining but I could fit more with cups (32) versus 22 or so. I got the idea from golden hulsey farms I didn't think of it myself. Everybody has their own hypothesis for this or that I was just looking for a way to get them to their destination with the least amount of damage.

I found there's 2 different versions of 4oz cups one taller and one shorter and fatter. Try to find this one the shorter was too short for my liking I couldn't get enough padding top to bottom that I prefer

That's my goal as well, otherwise why bother shipping eggs? And that's perfect when trading eggs with someone else too... easy reuse and resend... and thanks for the additional tip... :)
