the empty one is new. They changed the buttons and added indents on the side so u don't have to use your nails to open it up. Got 3 different hatches in there. Got 9 white hackles gettin locked down tonight. Then 29 eggs on Tuesday. 13 a week after that. Then one more batch. Figured I would have pulled a few more but all 42 are looking good

Yeah he whooped me when I went to get him, but I was able to hold him down to attach the cord. I let him walk with the cord for about 15 minutes, then tried to handle him but he didnt budge, just kept pecking and kicking at me.

At one point he went to chase a hen and pulled his leg back pretty good. It looked like it hurt him but he didn't show any signs of limping or pain.

Getting him off the cord was easy enough because he was perched up on the fence facing away. He spent about 30 minutes on the cord.

I think next time I put a cock on a cord, I am going to let them mount a few hens first, so that way they are aren't crazy trying to chase them. I would like leave him on the cord but I don't trust it quite yet. I have to make sure my dogs wont tease him or that the cord wont get caught somehow. More testing needed this weekend.

Yeah it's tough if you have other birds running around. I do too. As a matter of fact I think that's what may have happened when that stag got out on me. I think a hen may have jumped on top of the pen and rocked it when she jumped off letting the bird out.

I pull on the cord for awhile so they know it's there. Every bird is different though. I have one that don't like it at all. The rest are just fine. Some are like statues. I don't leave em on cords unless I'm out with em gun in hand. You never know what I may get a chance to shoot! Lol jk just for you buddy
