I think it might have been a light i was using as a heat source for a sick special bred pullet, feel certain it was something i did wrong.
so sorry to hear that's terrible. So much money and history gone. Do you know what started it?

That's a whole lot of stuff! Wow

Plus five 55 gallon barrels full of feed, i keep remembering more things in that building. Glad i did not have my lawn tractor parked in it

Would u suggest straw. ? I’m winterizing all their pens so they are stuck in the 55s until then. I do notice they kick the shavings out so I modified the barrel a bit.

Problem I had with hay since it's not hollow it would hold water and mold. But if you were in any normal part of the world (less humidity) it would probably be ok

very first fire I ever been on was a shed fire. We pulled up on scene I grabbed a line shot water into it and found out quick what happens when water meets flammable metals namely magnesium (chainsaw engines) it was like the fourth of July

The front has a 14x14” inch square hole and there is a 4-5” hole on the top back and the greenhouse doors are fully open so hope that is good enough for the 55 gal drums and hope they do good thru winter.

It’s doesnt get quite as cold here but plenty of days at or aroud zero with a few days in the negatives. I keep my birds in regular dome pens. I’ll wrap them up when the windchill is -10 or more. Other than that they are fine. Chickens handle cold far better than heat. I would switch from shavings to straw and cut a bigger hole in back for more ventilation. The moisture from their breath and dropping will be trapped inside those little barrels which is bad for them.
