I think I populated everyone I know around me with grey broody hens. For some reason they have been the best for me by far. They know what they're doing. Prolly have 10-15 out there I have 4. The original mom and her chirren
I remember you saying one time they really stick to their nest, so much so that you could pick them up nest and all and move them across the yard!

Yep when one goes broody I pick up her nestbox or bucket with her in it out a dome and carry it across the yard to the above ground pens then get my selection of eggs and lift her up while she's bitchin and swap eggs. At hatch when the chicks dry I pull them and put another clutch of eggs in her nest and she goes straight to setting again. I could do that all breeding season which I usually do

How's your pens havoc
They’re ok but it’s damn cold. Wind chills are right at -15 so it’s a little nippy outside. I just picked up more feed and 3 more bales of straw. I’m doing everything I can for em. Ain’t even home yet. Been going hard since 3 am.

Think I’m gonna pile up some straw under my deck so the loose birds can get their feet out of the snow. I can cut combs off but cutting feet off ain’t gonna work.

Been hearing and seen some Doc
